CHAPTER 01 · 0:00
Understand what gets preserved
PisoTrack FrostGuard manages Windows Unified Write Filter. It redirects changes on protected volumes into an overlay. This reference-screen guide explains checks, protection, exclusions, and maintenance. Decide what must persist before turning protection on.
Prepare the PC first
Protect selected volumes
Plan updates and saved data
CHAPTER 02 · 0:17
Check Windows support and privileges
Open Prerequisites and read all three checks. UWF requires a supported edition, such as Enterprise, Education, or IoT Enterprise; Home and Pro do not provide this feature. Resolve prerequisites before continuing, including any required restart.
Administrator access
Supported Windows edition
Unified Write Filter feature
CHAPTER 03 · 0:36
Prepare a known-good starting state
Install and test the software you want to keep, finish updates, and back up important data. Decide which volumes should be protected and where persistent files belong. An active filter is not a substitute for an independent backup.
Finish installation and updates
Back up important data
Decide which volumes to protect
CHAPTER 04 · 0:51
Review the protection wizard
Open One-Click Run and review its setup stages: prerequisites, UWF feature, overlay configuration, and selected drives. Read the final summary before the lock-and-reboot action. The screen details shown here are references, not a completed setup on your PC.
Check the prerequisites
Review overlay and drive choices
Read the final reboot summary
CHAPTER 05 · 1:09
Distinguish current and next-session state
Dashboard distinguishes current protection from the state staged for the next session. Changes may require a reboot before they apply. After restarting, reopen FrostGuard and verify both the filter state and each intended protected drive.
Read current filter state
Read next-session state
Verify again after reboot
CHAPTER 06 · 1:25
Keep only deliberate exclusions
Use Exclusions for specific files, folders, or registry areas that must persist. Broad exclusions reduce what the filter protects. Commit controls make selected changes permanent, so confirm the exact target and keep exclusions as narrow as your workflow allows.
Choose specific files or folders
Review what bypasses protection
Commit only intended changes
CHAPTER 07 · 1:43
Watch overlay use and plan maintenance
Watch overlay usage on Dashboard and review storage settings when needed. For maintenance, use the documented servicing workflow or deliberately thaw the machine, complete updates, then restore protection. Recheck the current state after the required restart.
Monitor temporary write usage
Review overlay limits
Schedule updates deliberately
CHAPTER 08 · 2:00
Keep a useful maintenance record
Activity Logs records UWF queries and action output. Keep the relevant lines if a step fails. Finish by verifying the protected volumes, needed exclusions, and a normal customer session. Expand only after one PC behaves as intended.
